Bob Batcher, host of channel 48's "Norfolk Perspectives" and City of Norfolk Public Relations Director, will be shaving his head at Jake's Place Men's Salon & Spa on March 8th to raise funds and awareness for The American Cancer Society's "Relay for Life".
At the recent GBA board of directors retreat every board member in attendance agreed to donate $50 to Bob's team (The Merry Mermaids). We urge all GBA members to consider donating a similar amount. Bob will attend our annual member dinner at The New Belmont on February 8th and a donation box will be displayed. There are also boxes available at Change's Hairstyling & City Spa and Jake's Place, or you can donate online by clicking here.
You might ask, why shave your head if you are on TV? Well it is simple, many Cancer patients do not have the choice of having hair or not. I have chosen to remove my hair in honor of all survivors and to use it as an opportunity to raise the awareness of the importance of ACS. And, I committed to raising $10,000! Please contribute now so when I go to Jake's Place on March 8th for a hair cut they will shave it all off (in front of the cameras).
Thanks,
Bob
